If we’re going to live in the US, Seattle has been amazing. But, do we need to live in the US? We like traveling and experiencing history. We’ve enjoyed Europe, particularly sailing around Europe for a week or two on vacation on a chartered boat. However, there are challenges with charters and a week’s time. There are so many amazing places to see; how do you see them all in a week’s time? And, if you like a place and want to stay a few days, what do you do about all the other places you planned to see? And then, mother nature plays a role, having a direct impact on when and where you can go and see place a, b, c.
Do we charter for several weeks? Can you charter a boat for a few months? And, if we do, how much will that be?
With our kids out and on their own, we’ve scaled down our home size to the point where we’ve lived in a loft above a garage. This is a slightly different story, but suffice to say, we’ve been living in less than 600 square feet, a single bedroom, bath, and when our kids come home, they have the glorious option to sleep on the couch.
Since we’re already “living small” and want to explore Europe, Steve loves to sail, and Olga loves adventures, why not move aboard a sailboat, use it as our base, and take on the next adventure?
And, when our kids, or friends want to come visit, we have real bedrooms and additional bathrooms (heads) for them to use.
Sounds like a plan…
