2026 Sailing Season Plans

For the 2026 season, we’re planning our course around a few races in Caorle Italy, Athens Greece, and either Malta or Marmais Turkiye. Between the races, we’ll cruise the Greek, Italian, and Croatian islands. We’re looking for crew to join us for races and casual cruising. We’d love to have the same crew for the races, but we realize that may not be practical. We also realize some may want to join the cruising parts, between the races.

Blue: Cruising, Red: Race Courses

Below is a breakdown of the season to give some ideas of “when and where” our routes will take us. Most of the cruising spots haven’t been nailed down. However, due to the races, the schedule for each portion of the season is as ideal as possible for sailing in the Mediterranean. This should provide chunks of time; we hope folks can plan to join us.

Spring Maintenance in Cyprus

March 1 – 31

We need to finish up some electrical upgrades and the normal spring maintenance, including putting up the sails, new rigging for racing, antifouling, and some fiberglass/hull work.

We’re currently budgeting a month, with 1-2 weeks on the hard, in the boatyard. If you’d like to get your hands dirty, we’d welcome some help. Cyprus is a great island to explore. We’re still hoping to make a trip to the north-east Turkish side to see the donkeys.

  • March 1-16: Ayia Nappa, Cyprus: Battery/Inverter Upgrade
  • March 17-31 (Ayia Nappa Cyprus): Spring Maintenance

Transit from Cyprus to Caorle, Italy

April 1 – 26

Our first race is in Caorle, Italy, 1,500nm from Cyprus. Due to the distance & time, this portion of the trip will be a lot of sailing, with several overnights. With some long days and nights, we should have some downtime along the way.

Depending on the weather and preference, we may sail through Rhodes, Greece, or Crete, then continue up the south-west coast of the Peloponnese. There are 2025 favorites we may revisit, and new locations we’ll figure out enroute. As the La Cinquecento race rounds the Trementi Islands, we’ll likely stop to get a feel for the race course.

If you want to do a lot of sailing, this is a great segment to join.

  • April 1-April 26: Transit Ayia Nappa – Caorle (1,500nm)
    • Stops at the Stofades, Trementi Islands, …

La Duecento Race in Caorle, Italy

April 26 – May 3

This is our first race of the season, with a 200nm course. We hope to get there several days early to prepare and deal with any maintenance issues from the long transit.

Experience racing is preferred, and even better if you can join other races.

  • April 26-May 1: Caorle, Italy, La Duecento Race Prep
  • May 1 – 3: Caorle, Italy La Duecento Race
    • 200nm Race
    • Confirmed

Cruising the Northern Croatian Islands

May 4-26

Between the La Duecento and La Cinquecento races, we’ll have 3 weeks to explore the northern Croatian islands. This time hasn’t been planned yet, and we’re open to suggestions. Those that raced with us may depart, or continue to enjoy the relaxing side of sailing.

  • May 4-26: Croatia Islands North Cruising

La Cinquecento Race

May 26 – June 6

This is a week-long, 500nm week of racing. We’re planning a week of prep time to work on the boat and to prep as a team.

Best case scenario is the crew that raced with us for La Duecento will join us. But, that may not be realistic, so if this week works, and you have expereince, please reach out.

  • May 26-31: Caorle, Italy, La Cinquecento Race Prep
  • May 31 – June 6: Caorle, Italy, LA CINQUECENTO Race

Cruising the Southern Croatian Islands to Athens

June 8 – July 12

With the first two races complete, we’ll have several weeks between the races in Caorle, Italy, and the next race south of Athens. We’ll most likely explore the southern Croatian Islands, and at some point start the journey south, past Montenegro and Albania, before the northern Ionian Greek islands.

Transit to Athens

Mid June – July 12

At some point, we’ll need to get to Athens for the Aegean Rally. We’ll cut through the Corinth Canal, which we traversed in 2025. There are a few great places we may revisit, like Fiscardo and the “hippy dippy island” of Trizonia.

This portion is completley open for where we’ll go. If you have some favoirites, we’d love to hear of them, and if you’d like to join us for those favorites, even better.

  • June 8th – Caorle Italy–> Split, Croatia
    • ~240nm
  • Croatia–>Athens Transit to Aegean Rally
    • ~600nm

Aegean Sailing Rally

July 12 – 28

This looks like a fun race, with a few stops. (2025 Course Map). We’re tentatively scheduled, as the race committee wants to add a multihull class but needs additional boats. So, if you’re not looking to join us but want to bring your boat along, it would be great to have others get in the competitive spirit.

Mid Summer Break

July 30 – August 15

We’ll be taking a break, heading back to Seattle for some family time. Most likely, we’ll dock the boat near Finikas, as that’s where the Aegean Rally ends.

Transit West or East

August 18- October 2

From our mid-summer break through the fall, we’re fairly open ended.

Depending on which race we compete in, we’ll either head south-west to Malta or east to Marmaris, Turkiye. Once we get the racing season started and the Mamaris Race Week folks decide whether they’ll have a multihull class, we’ll know which race we’ll join, if any.

Rolex Middle Sea Race or Marmaris International Race Week

October 10-31

Winter 2026

November-ish – Spring 2027

As we haven’t even started the season, we haven’t yet decided where we’ll end up. We may head back to Cyprus, or find an alternative if Cyprus really joins the Schengen region.
