Rhodes to Lindos

Some fellow sailors described Lindos as a city not to be missed while in Rhodes, so we decided to check it out on our way to Karpathos. We sailed west along the south coast aiming for Lindos but somehow undershot and accidentally ended up in Anthony Quinn’s bay ( clearly, our burgeoning navigation skills leave much to be desired). We anchored there and decided to explore the Lindos acropolis, a natural citadel that which was fortified successively by the ancient Greeks, the Romans, the Byzantines, the knights of St John and finally the Ottomans. It was gorgeous at night, illuminated by colorful lights and casting its shadow over white-washed streets of the Lindos city. The city was jam-packed with tourists and every store catered to them. The narrow winding streets were clean and taken care but it was just too commercial for our taste.

Such a clean city… sorry about the tourists, but it IS the season!
